Even Though Its Dead : Nissan Silvia/ 200SX S16 Details

Nissan halted plans for the small sports car, but Car Magazine came up with some details on it.

So what do we now know about the cancelled car?

We've been told that a meeting was held in the US to set the final specifications in April 2008. ‘We set on a front-engined, rear-wheel drive two-seater with a limited slip differential and dimensions very similar to the Mazda MX-5 – it was 4.1 metres long,' said our source. 'The engine was going to be a 1.6-litre turbo producing approximately 185bhp [the last-generation S15 – never officially imported to the UK – boasted 2.0-litres and nearly 250bhp] with a weight of around 1200kg. It would have been a lot of fun.’

Sadly, Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn canned the project in November last year, choosing instead to focus on high-volume small and medium-sized cars.

Nissan Still Working on SUV and Four Door GT-R Variations

Inside Line reports that Nissan is still working on a few variants of the Nissan GT-R.

The article says we could see a Cayenne fighting SUV around 2011. Also a Infiniti four door model coming as early as 2011.

Inside Line also mentions that the planned small rear wheel drive car is dead. No S16 in the foreseeable future. No Hyundai Genesis coupe rival.

V-8 Powered four door GT-R anyone ? Q45 replacement ? The GT500 cars already run a V8. The GT-R as a four door and an SUV would be heavy. An SUV would be an odd one, as they just released the FX50.
